SUP Yoga - All Levels

These classes are popular for a reason! Experience a beginner friendly paddle and yoga session. Paddlers will get fitted for a PFD, have a safety briefing, followed by paddle basics as we venture to our yoga location. The yoga class will be between 40 - 60 minutes, and participants will have 20 minutes of free time to explore and take memorable pictures.

SUP Yoga - Advanced

This is a new class starting in 2024. This class is designed for someone who has some paddle board and yoga experience. There will be longer flows with more in depth poses. Modifications can be made, but I ask that only people that have either attended a few classes or have prior experience attend these sessions.

Everyone is Welcome

Regardless if you do or don't have paddle board or yoga experience, SUP yoga can be for everyone. General SUP tips and tricks, as well as movement modifications are always offered throughout the sessions. If anyone has limitations I encourage you to chat with me so I can design the classes to fit your needs. Restore's offerings revolve around inclusivity and body positivity!

SUP Yoga Q&A

01

Where do I go and when should I be there?

The facility is located at 18 McPhail Ave, Sault Ste. Marie, ON P6A 3K4. Please arrive on time for the start of your scheduled class time. I suggest about 5 minutes before the class begins. If participants haven't already, waivers are required to be completed from the waterfront adventure center, so please arrive a few minutes early to complete them.

What happens when I get there?

Upon arrival you will be greeted by myself or staff at the facility. We will gather as a group in the cafe area. There are washrooms, changerooms, and lockers available to you. After everyone is changed we will head to the boathouse and get fitted for life jackets. I will be giving a safety briefing prior to us going out. This includes water safety, and mindfulness towards our own bodies as well. If you have any questions regarding safety or other please feel free to reach out.

03

Can I participate if I've never paddle-boarded before and/or practiced yoga?

Most of the SUP yoga classes are beginner classes! I focus on gentle yoga, and building strength and flexibility over time. Beginner yogis and paddlers are welcome. I am a certified yoga instructor, as well as a paddle-board instructor, so I can confidently and safely take groups on the water. We will go over the basics and I can answer any questions you have at any time throughout the event, or beforehand.

04

What do you need to bring with you?

Please apply sunscreen prior to arriving on site. This is because it is a scent free facility. You are allowed to bring sunscreen with you, if you need to reapply. Applying before also gives your skin time to absorb it, so we minimize how much goes into the water.

Wear clothing that you are comfortable in. This could be yoga wear, athletic wear, or a bathing suit - anything you feel comfortable in. Cotton is great in the summer, as it wicks moisture quickly and will keep you cool. Clothing with SPF woven in is also a good choice to stay safe from the sun. I would also recommend bringing a hat if you'd like sun protection on your head.

If you wear sunglasses, make sure that they are secure to you, so you won't lose them in case they fall off.

Bring an extra set of clothes in case your balancing skills get taken to another level. There are lockers available to you, please bring your own lock.

You may bring a phone to take pictures and share with friends during the free time! We have a few waterproof phone cases available for participants. Please be advised though, it is your responsibility to keep them safe.

Lastly, waterproof shoes are optional. I like to be on your board barefoot, I find it easier to balance. But I do like to have water shoes, or Crocs to walk around before and afterwards.

05

Are there weight limits or age restrictions?

Did you know that stand up paddle boards have weight limits? It is important to stay within these limits for safety reasons. I ask that each participant shares their weight so that I can make sure I have the best boards and proper amount of boards for your group.

The Waterfront Adventure Center does have an age restriction, paddlers must be above the age of 15.
